Sometimes you try a coffee that everyone swears is amazing, and you find yourself wondering...what are they talking about?
Yes, taste is personal — but preparation plays a huge role too. Even the best steak in the world can taste terrible if it’s cooked poorly, and the same is true for coffee. So, let’s break down the reasons your cup might taste bitter or sour.
You might think, I always use the same ratios, but the ideal measurement can change depending on the coffee itself.
A dark roast, for example, might taste bold and balanced with 2 tablespoons of grounds to 6 ounces of water, turn sour with 3 tablespoons, or taste weak and watery with only 1 tablespoon.
If your coffee tastes sour, try reducing the amount of ground coffee until you find your sweet spot.
Fresh coffee always makes a difference in the quality of your cup.
