The Swiss Water Process is a chemical-free, water-based method that we use to decaffeinate our coffee beans.
Green beans are first soaked in hot water to extract caffeine and flavor compounds. Next, the water is filtered through activated charcoal to remove the caffeine. Then, the beans are re-soaked in that flavor-charged water so that only caffeine is drawn out.
The best part? This chemical-free process results in up to 99.9 % caffeine removal and keeps most of the original flavor intact!
